In a year of continued interruptions caused by the Coronavirus Pandemic - we saw groups and individuals continue to find ways to support their communities and adapt their services to online formats.

In 2021, the Hobsons Bay Community Fund provided $42,060 to 11 community projects across Hobsons Bay, under the Fair, Inclusive and Vibrant grant categories. 

HBCF has enabled projects focused on the arts, physical/mental health and wellbeing, positive ageing, access to food and housing security and environmental sustainability.


Kowanj Australia - Recovery Impact Grant of $10,000

Grant to deliver a holistic employment project to address barriers to employment for Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD), refugee, women and youth job seekers. Louis Joel Arts & Community Centre - Recovery Impact Grant of $7,720.00

Grant for three young people aged 18-25 years who are experiencing unemployment or underemployment the opportunity to participate in an Arts, Culture and Community internship program over a 12-week period at the Louis Joel Arts & Community Centre. Click here to find out more about the group.


NZ Maori Polynesian Welfare Support Group - Recover Impact Grant of $2,690

Grant to deliver a cultural awareness program for young people to assist them to understand and maintain their cultural value as part of the Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) community and to pass on to the next generation. Click here to find out more about the group.


EdConnect Australia - Recovery Impact Grant of $2,400

Grant to recruit new volunteers to the School Volunteer Program which provides learning and mentoring support for students in schools across Hobsons Bay. Williamstown Bayside Tennis Club - Community Grant of $2,250

TreeHaus Williamstown - Community Grant of $4,000

Grant to provide essential equipment to establish School Wellness Hubs in two local primary schools in Hobsons Bay. Wellness Hubs are tailored to meet the needs of individual schools and include sensory equipment and the set up of a dedicated room for students to access and feel supported and welcome. Williamstown Community & Education Centre - Community Grant of $2,000

Grant to support the delivery of weekly morning teas, monthly community lunches and the establishment of a regular walking group for members from Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) communities, refugees and low socio-economic backgrounds. Click here to find out more about the Centre.


Williamstown Swimming & Life Saving Club - Recovery Impact Grant of $2,000

Grant to support the delivery of mental health first aid training to Club members and the community of Hobsons Bay to equip them with the skills necessary to identify and assist people in our local community who are experiencing mental health issues. Click here to find out more about the Club.


Altona Miniature Railway - Community Grant of $3,000

Grant towards the purchase of a purpose built powered drivers carriage to provide additional power to haul a longer train and increase the distance between the volunteer drivers from passengers to meet new COVID-19 social distancing requirements. Click here to find out more about the group.


Williamstown Uniting Church Electra Street Opportunity Shop - Community Grant of $3,000

Grant towards the construction of a compliant disabled persons ramp leading to the front of the Opportunity Shop to provide equal access to people of all abilities. Click here to find out more about the group.
